Reclaim Your Body: Day 14

by | Oct 22, 2019

The Trek finished in a town called Pokhara which is a tourist town located on a lake. Given that it is Dashain festival time holiday here in Nepal, it was absolutely packed with locals.

For our last day before heading back to Kathmandu, we decided to hike to Shanti Stupa, a memorial to peace and one that contains relics of the Buddha.

The memorial sits atop a hill that overlooks Pokhara so, of course, yet another climb was required. We pulled ourselves up around 2,000 feet of elevation..and I really mean pulled. My body, today, felt broken. My feet, in particular, are swollen and in pain.

The hike, however, was worth it as the view was breathtaking and it felt good to walk without a 25 lb pack.

Along the climb we saw packs of monkeys. They hang in the trees and wait for climbers to drop food. I tried to get a video but was unsuccessful.

Tomorrow we head back to Kathmandu to catch a plane back to the US.

This adventure is almost at it’s end.
